I wanted to have a short little mini-entry lead-in to the update, but I couldn’t decide what to write about. I could have wrote about them all, but then that wouldn’t be a “short little” entry, now would it? And yes, I realize the irony of the situation. In recounting my inability to come up with a short entry, I did in fact make a short entry. ‘Grats, you took high school English classes & paid attention to them xP

“Hmm? Oh, I’m just a passing busybody.” the man replied, “I just take it upon myself to find out about things. I’d heard there was some kind of commotion over that way a few days ago and was going to head over there to find out what it was about.”
As pained looks crossed Miche and Char’s faces, Dauber began to look thoughtful. “You wouldn’t happen to be an Observer, would you?”
“Yeah, that’s what most people call us. But I don’t like it, ’cause it shows the wrong idea, ya know? We’re not some kinda organization, just people who want to know and don’t mind telling others about it. So how about it? Wanna tell me what’s going on? Most people think you’ve come up with some new weapon, but that doesn’t make sense, ’cause Warhal’s never been a pl-”
“We were attacked,” Miche cut in. “No warning. No mercy. We barely survived.”
“Sweet Karina…” the man breathed, “Why?”
“We don’t know.” answered Dauber. “That’s a question for another time though.”
“Right, right. Gotta get back on your feet first and all, right? So you’ve come for the Rangers then?”
“The Rangers?” Dauber frowned in confusion for a moment. “You don’t mean Allana’s Rangers, do you? What help would traveling priests be?”
“‘Traveling priests?’ Heh… Warhal’s more isolated than I thought if you’re still calling them that. Their numbers have grown greatly over the past couple of years and they’ve changed their focus a bit. Now they’re more interested in showing the way, rather than just telling of it. They’ve taken to doing all sorts of things now. Helping a village rebuild would be right up their alley now. I can tell you where you’ll probably find some members if you want.”
“Thanks, but I was more concerned with presenting our case to the Magistrate first, though. To ask for Costa’s aid, and now to apparently allay fears as well.”
“Ehh…” the man grimaced, “you’ll be hard-pressed to get help from Costa. Y’all aren’t exactly on the friendliest of terms, if you know what I mean…”
“What? Warhal’s never made any trouble for Costa!”
“But you haven’t been any help to them either. The old birds calling the shots have gotten a little tight-fisted over the years. They aren’t going to move unless there’s something in it for them, ya know? You all haven’t really paid tribute to Costa in the past, and it sounds to me that you’re too close to the end of your rope to be able to offer anything now. I’m not saying it’s not worth a try, but I’d look up the Rangers before you leave town if I were you.”
“Perhaps…” Dauber paused and gave Miche a look.
Miche thought for a moment before answering the unspoken question. ”Seems o.k. to me. What harm could it do?”
“Very well then.” Dauber then addresed the Observer. ”Thank you for your advice”
“Think nothing of it. By the way… You guys won’t mind me telling others about Warhal, would you? One of my friends is a Warhalian and I know you guys have your pride…”
“You can tell ‘em we’re not building somekinda superweapon.” Miche answered, “But as for the attack itself things are a little too… ” Fantastic? Unbelievable? Insane? “… unsure at the moment to know for sure what happened.”
“Fine by me. I like to report, not gossip. Hey look, we’re almost at the gates!”

A couple of notes. First, I’ve still got some more to put down in writng, so there’s going to be another update… sonn-ish. Second, that “Perhaps…” moment is probably going to be the first actual RPG question in the game. It’s not really going to affect much since the choice’ll basiclally be to go to the Costa muckety-mucks then the Rangers, or just to go to the Rangers. Allana’s Rangers are going to play a little part in Costa, but aren’t going to really affect the plot ’til the 2nd game. Like I said before, game-wise, Costa’ll be tutorial city. First access to weapon and armor shops. First access to magic guilds (I haven’t really put much thought into how the usual fire/ice/heal spells are going to be acquired, but I’ve never really liked the idea of mages just randomly getting new skills just by leveling.). Ima just skip past most of that as far as what I’m doing here is concerned, though.
‘Til next time…

This weekend was pretty decent for a change. I got to do what I wanted, when I wanted, & for as long as I wanted, without having to worry about having to do anything for anybody. I got some stuff taken care of that I needed to take care of, & spent the rest of the time playing AO and watching old movies. I watched so many movies this weekend that I can’t remember them all. Mainly ’cause most of them were either crap, or not very good, but still…>.>
Anyway, I promised a Sardis update, and a Sardis update I’ve come to deliver. I’ll put up more soon, ’cause I want to get to the next sticking point in the story before I take another 2 month break…
I may have stopped, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t keep going…>.>

They awoke with the sun, and soon were on their way. They continued as before until around midday, they finally came upon a path. After following it for a bit, they encountered something that they hadn’t before; a fellow traveler in the form of a Graath-drawn cart, passing them by. They traveled on until the path that they were on joined another path, and they came across more travelers. Paths became roads and they came across more and more travelers. Some on carts, others on foot. Some vaguely friendly and others somewhat rude, but all focused on the road ahead of them. There were as many coming as going, and soon the road they were on split into two paths, one for travelers towards the city, the other for those going away, and both were full of travelers. As Miche and Char had been used to the quiet country life of Warhal, the multitude of people around them became close to too much for them to handle. So it wasn’t too surprising that Miche became so caught up in the people around him that he was almost to the city of Conta before he actually got a good look at it.
“Wow…,” Miche breathed nearly under his breath. “It’s huge….”
And as far as he could tell, it was all made of stone. From the gigantic, thick wall surrounding it, to the buildings, far larger and taller than anyway in Warhal, billowing smoke into the sky.
“I bet you could fit ten Warhals in this place.”
“Actually,” Dauber interjected, “it’s closer to 15. It’s more of an oval shape and there’s a bit more space towards the back where the workers live.”
“Workers?” Miche asked. “What, they don’t all work around here?”
“Well, most do, but the workers are the ones that do the more menial work. Cleaning, caring for the few animals they have around here, and the like.”
“That doesn’t seem right, “ chimed Char, “Everyone should pitch in on stuff like that…”
“I agree with you, but you’ll find that much of the world doesn’t work like Warhal does…”
“Excuse me”
The three turn to the speaker, an average looking man walking beside them. “I couldn’t help but overhear that you all were talking about Warhal. Are you from there?”
Miche began to speak, but Dauber cut him off with a sharp look. He turned back to the man and asked, “Well that depends on who’s asking the question. Who are you anyway…?
